10 Tips for Smart Holiday Shopping

The Holidays are upon us and there is no need to refrain from being frugal this time of the year. I have teamed up with Twittermoms and Office Depot to bring you my tips for shopping smart.

1. Set your budget-Know what you can afford and stick to it. You don't have to buy every hot item because most items will be forgotten by next year anyway.

2. Make a List-In your list include direct family members such as spouse, kids, and parents. In my family we pick names for the adults and then the kids pick names as well. Also remember to include friends, neighbors and a couple extras for spontaneous gift exchanges.

3. Compare prices- Have an idea of what to get that special person on your list and watch for sales and check for coupons it is easier to return an overpaid for item after finding another on sale than to kick yourself for not buying and having to overpay.

4. Shop online- You can find some amazing deals online. You can use online coupons, deal sites, and even your Amazon bucks to get really inexpensive gifts. Just make sure your shopping is done early allow for shipping time. Remember to watch for Cyber monday sales.

5. Shop instore- Check your local ads for deals and remember you can price match at many places to recieve the lowest price. Remember to watch for Black Friday sales.

6. Be Creative- Homeade gifts can show how much you care. Get your kids involved this is a win-win because the kids are busy and gifts are being created.

7. Be "faux" Creative- Photobooks are a great gift from the heart and can easily be made online. Gift Baskets are another for the less creative (like Me!) a simple basket with items the receiver would enjoy, wrap and enjoy.

8. Share the Joy of Finding- Let your husband and kids pick a gift for those special people on your list. If needed, just contact the receiver and ask what they want.

9. Give a Card- Gify cards can be easy to purchase for those hard to buy for people.

10. Relax- Remeber holidays are meant for sharing time with people we love and care for so take a breath and enjoy that time.

These are my tips in not paticular order so enjoy!  Happy shopping on a budget!
